INTERVIEW WITH JONALI KARMAKAR

    ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Jonali Karmakar is a fiction writer and editor with a Masters in English. Writing is not just her passion but her way of dealing with life. She loves being able to escape into the worlds she creates. Everything that she writes becomes a part of her and she wants her readers to know the woman behind those words. She published her first poem while still in high school. Her short stories have found their place in several anthologies. Before turning to writing full time she looked after one of their many family businesses and prior to that she worked as a Medical Transcriptionist. She has been associated with a cause where she taught English to underprivileged kids. Currently she spends most of her time writing and when she isn't doing that, she's either painting or keeping a keen eye on the stock market.  She is an avid reader and loves flipping pages of anything and everything on the table. She feels that reading and writing are the flip sides of the same coin. Writing is her way of communicating with the world.

Let us know more about her.

1) Is there a key person that has inspired you in the process of writing?

  •     Not exactly. I think directly or indirectly all the writers that I read as a child inspired me to write.

2) Describe the role books played in your own life?

  •     I was an introvert as a child and as such books were my best companion. They were my escape and my solace.

      3) Tell us something about your story in 31 sins?

  •     Burning bridges is about a man who has been lied to ever since he could remember. Revelations break him beyond repair and his life falls apart. The sins of the parents always visit the children and that is what happens to Diptesh, the protagonist.

      4) Any message which you will like to give to the readers via your story?

  •    Lies beget more lies.

     5) Any specific tips you have for new Authors who want to make it in the publishing Industry?

  • I’m learning the ways of the publishing industry myself. I feel one should write not for the sake of getting published but for the sheer satisfaction that writing provides.

          6) There are so many Anthologies around. Why to go for “31 SINS”?

  • Certainly there is an abundance of anthologies in the market but “31 SINS” is different because of its theme. Writing about sin isn’t easy because it shows a different facet of life; a facet we are not comfortable to explore. “31 SINS” has dared to do just that.

      7) What genre do you particularly like?

  •   I’m eclectic when it comes to genre.

      8) What are some of the things you like to do when you’re not writing?

  • I like to read and occasionally paint.

      9) “Every one of us is a sinner in some way or other” in these situation how you get out of that regret? Or what one should do to move on with life?

  • Regrets are like lifetime achievements. They never really leave us. But with time we learn to steer clear of the feeling sometimes by trying to rectify our mistake and at other times by neglecting it.

     10) How is the experience with NUMERIQUE PUBLICATIONS till now?

  •   It has been great working with NUMERIQUE  PUBLICATIONS and I’d love to be associated with them even in the future.

     11) How does it feel being an author?

  •   Being an author is what I’ve always wanted. It feels amazing living the dream.

         12) What is your least favourite part of the writing process?
  •    Absolutely nothing. The least favorite part comes later- looking for the right publisher.

THANKS JONALI FOR SPARING YOUR PRECIOUS TIME. I WISH 31 SINS GOES TO THE “BEST SELLER” LIST SOON.

Thank you as well.

THE INNOCENT

The sun was at its peak. I drove my bike to the nearest canteen with one of my friend. We sat after ordering our eateries.

I had a poor exam and the clamour around the place which felt like a big hammer hitting my head without showing any mercy and making my mood more worst. I just wanted to eat something for the sake of eating. I had no interest on what was happening around.

I just gulped down the first bite. Damn! It's so chilly.

I rushed towards the counter and bought mineral water and drank almost half of it.

Just when I was about to sit, a plastic ball came hitting me in the right leg. I bend down to give the ball back to the kids playing. I was flabbergast sitting there watching them play. The sheer innocence, carefree look and the honest smile, everything hooked me up to the kid.

They don't need to worry about any damn exam. They don't need to think about future. Everything was fun for the kid,

Just then his mother came running towards him making him eat his food with her own hands and then there I was sitting in a pathetic condition, missing home food and felt homesick.

The worst case scenario for the grownup's is that one can't cry loudly when he or she is hurt. One has to take responsibilities no matter what happens.

Everything seemed so lifeless. As we grow up, we tend to loose our innocence by one way or the other. You just can't sit and wait for your parents or someone else to solve your problems because everyone is fighting for their own survival. Perhaps the worldly wealth could not buy that innocent and honest face of that kid.

"Bro, c'mon eat fast! We need to go".

I almost forgot that I was having my lunch and had an another exam to deal with. Just as I was leaving, I bid goodbye to the kid and he waved a bye in return with a smile on his face.

"I am not innocent, perhaps I never would be!".
I concluded.

Unanswered QUESTION

Unanswered huh?
Many things are unanswered in our life. Many things don't have any reasons still they occur in our life.

Your boss demoted you, your loved ones left  without giving any reasons, you met with an accident, you were cheated.
See there,
They are the unanswered questions.

They have a positive and a negative side too.

You meet someone and they become an integral part of your life and you keep on thinking how you were able to meet them at the first place.
You do something small but which results into a huge difference in the end.
See there,

these are positive sides.
But hey, they are also answered questions in the sense that why you met the person or did things at the first place.
Usually I have seen people suffering with pain when their loved ones leave them without giving any reason and people keep on asking them the unanswered questions.

At the end of the day,we just try to connect the dots of our life in a way that we would make it beautiful to live .

In this process, we assume the answers. They might be right or wrong but at least they help us to move on and get going with life.
We constantly search those unanswered questions in our life.
If you even get your answers, the questions might get flipped.
Let me tell you one thing.
The image will only be clear when we will be on our death bed . Suddenly everything will start to make sense.
Every questions will get their perfect answer.
So for now chill, take a deep breath.
If your life is not giving you answers now just assume them and keep moving.
You never know you might get lucky getting an answer in the process.

LOVE BYTES

We are made by God but still, we are
unique in our own differences, beliefs
and religion.

For instance, love. We have different
beliefs or understanding of this four-
letter word.

For some, it is a magical feeling one
experiences when seeing someone he/she
adores to the point wherein she will say
that she feels butterflies in her stomach.

Whenever that person is near you, you
get queasy and tend to stutter on your
words. They say its just hormones, which
is true. But it's hard to believe that
what causes you to feel this emotion is a
simple word --- Love.

Love is seeing a person perfectly despite
his/her imperfections. Love is so
powerful that it can bring even the gods
to their knees. Love is a sensational and
once in a lifetime feeling. The previous
sentences are just about a few of my
knowledge about love.

Just imagine a whole book coming out of love!

Yes LOVE BYTES , is an Anthology, A Tale
of 20 Love Stories, Penned by
Young Authors from all Over the
country. Envisioned by CrazZy
Ventures.

Soon to hit the markets!

A few lines that I would like to quote from it-
Our love was fire. Maybe that was the problem.
Because fire dies out.

DON'T CHANGE ! YOU ARE UNIQUE.

In our whole life, we are constantly looking outside of ourselves for Love, approval and to fit in. This happens first as a child – when we adapt to meet our parents needs so that we can get Love.
Then, as we get older, it could be a group of friends, or adapt to how we think our romantic partner thinks we should be – or the opposite – we rebel against how anyone thinks we should be and we stand out by not fitting in.
No matter how we slice it, adapting ourselves to fitting in or being a rebel and standing out – all of these behaviors stem from our thoughts about what other people think. And living our lives from the perspective of what other people think creates massive pain in our lives. Because when we act based on what other people think, we are acting from the place of a deficit, that is – “I’m not enough, so I am going to change myself to be enough.”
DO WE LIVE JUST FOR THE SAKE OF PLEASING SOMEONE ?
And this core thought has caused A LOT of pain in my life. And this core thought has caused a lot of pain in general.
The journey is that through feeling all of this pain, we come back to ourselves, and we stop identifying with what other people think we should be, or we stop rebelling against other people – and instead tune within and listen to whom we really are – at a heart and soul level.
Each and every one of us – and that includes – YOU – is a unique soul. We have a unique gift. We are great at something. Life comes into balance and our fullest expression begins to be realized when we align with our true nature rather than being a part of the herd or rebelling against the herd.
The journey is within. When we listen to and act from that place – we are trendsetters – we are unique – we are special – and ain’t no one else like us is made.
And what’s cool is when we start to belong to ourselves and express ourselves – we put out a different frequency and, as a result, we start attracting and meeting people who are on that new wave length. And what’s so cool is in doing so, we no longer need to chase people. When we belong to ourselves, we find who else we belong to.
The joy of living a Self -Approved life is revealed when we begin to allow ourselves to be ourselves – we accept ourselves as we are – we accept ourselves as perfectly imperfect and the inner conflict begins to die down. And our true nature emerges and The Uni-verse supports us in miraculous ways.
How can you start to live a Self Approved life today? What are you going to do differently

Short tales with tequila shots!

She said to soothe her with his words.
He replied he will talk till his words bleed :)

He asked her if she likes his description. She said she loved them.
Again he asked if she love him.
Alas!
She replied she liked him.

She said she sings, when he asked her about her hobbies.
She again said she is not professional.
"I am bored with professionalism"
He replied making it sound so good.

He complimented her saying her cougar.
She elegantly replied "I am not cougar,I am jaguar".

"How you write so well?"
Everyone asked her including him in the crowd.
She looked towards him and said "I write because you exist ".

He loved her with all his heart.
She ignored him like he never existed.

He played with her hairs, completely unaware of that she is playing with his emotions.

She said she is devil and will break his heart.
He replied holding her hands,
"It would be a privilege to be broken by you".

She said she is making her finger wet in the drizzle.
He replied
"Even the raindrops got its worth falling on her fingers.
It seemed to formed in diamonds after falling on her hands:)".

" My heart has been broken into uncountable pieces and been broken and joined the same number of times".
She said in a sad tone.
"He will join them in exact shape she deserves by the love chords of him".
He replied soothing her.

If it could be controlled, it would never be called the 'heart'.
Thats why god gifted some brains, for us to manipulate our lives. There shall be times once in a blue moon, when both would call the night ..night!
He huged her tightly.

They met each other after one year of their break up in a pub.
She loved him and he even more.
Then he handed her the glass and said
"Let's get drunk and tell each other how we really feel".
